The Whistler Cycling Club is a non-profit organization run by a Board of Directors. Additional working groups formed of directors and non-director members focus on safety advocacy and club rides. We hold our Annual General meeting in March of each year. Want to get involved? Email contact@whistlercyclingclub.ca.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

BOB BARNETT - PRESIDENT

Bob first rode without training wheels at age 6 and quickly graduated to a CCM Mustang, followed by a purple Iverson 10-speed. After a decade focused on skiing he rediscovered bicycles, and novice/Cat 4 bike racing, in his early 20s. School and work then conspired to interfere with cycling for several years. In 2001 he took his first cycling holiday. Since then he’s been committed to discovering more of the world, and himself, from a bicycle. He is a founding member of the Whistler Cycling Club.

KEN CHADDOCK - TREASURER

Ken Chaddock is a founding member of the Whistler Cycling Club and a cycling enthusiast. Inspired by his son Ben, he started riding road bikes at 59, averaging 6000 to 9000 kilometres each summer in pursuit of the fountain of youth. A retired professional engineer and at times a really tired cyclist, Ken enjoys helping others in their pursuits of better skiing, as a ski instructor at Whistler Blackcomb, and better cycling, as a frequent ride leader with WCC.

KAREN NORTON - SECRETARY

Karen is actually a triathlete, but we don’t hold that against her! She joined the club in 2017 and enjoys the camaraderie of group rides, and the extra push she gets when things get competitive.

Originally from Ontario, she made the move to BC in 2009 and hasn’t looked back. In addition to cycling, she enjoys camping, running, ski-touring and all the other fun things the Sea to Sky region has to offer.

PABLO CONTRERAS - DIRECTOR

Pablo is a recreational cyclist with the idea that he can cross the finish line in a fondo (hopefully as fast or faster than last time). His intention is to assist and inspire other riders to learn how to be stronger, safer and increase their knowledge base.

He is a highly motivated hospitality professional with a demonstrated ability to build strong guest relationships, organize strategies and develop business opportunities.

SCOTT BRAMMER - COMMUNICATIONS

Scott has been riding a bike his whole life. He is a multi-time Ironman triathlon finisher and recreational cyclist who wants to give back to the sport that has been part of his life for so long.

Off the bike, Scott is a professional photographer who focuses on all kinds of special event photography. He has a wife and 2 dogs, and has lived in Whistler for over twenty years.

ALAN RICHIES - DIRECTOR

Alan joined the Whistler Cycling Club as a founding member 6 years ago. Having never ridden a road bike more than a couple times however, he was encouraged by a couple friends to give it a try. He immediately gravitated to the camaraderie of the sport and found group riding in a pace line turned his crank, so to speak. With the support, training and practice within the club, he has progressed hugely and is now one of our ride leaders. This year he joined the board of Directors and looks forward to giving back to the club in that capacity.

JOHN MORLEY - DIRECTOR

John has been an avid road cyclist since 2010 and is proud to be a founding member of the Whistler Cycling Club. His passion for road cycling has led him to log thousands of kilometers throughout the scenic roadways of the Sea to Sky region as well as Europe.  As a member, Director and Ride Leader, John’s goal is to continue to share his passion for road cycling with fellow members and to inspire new ones to take up this wonderful activity. When he is not on his road bike, John is an avid cross-country skier in the off season and along with his wife, volunteers for Pacific Assistance Dogs Society.

GED HAGUE - DIRECTOR

Ged joined the club as a founding member, and rides for fitness and fun. Whether it is a solo, group or family ride, being on a bike of any type is a happy place for him. Originally from Ontario, but he has called Whistler home for almost 25 years now. His wife Jane and son Jack both enjoy being on a bike too!
